Presentation

Suribachi is a family-style restaurant and wellness space in Porto, founded in 1975 by a group of friends inspired by Eastern teachings on food and alternative medicine. Since opening to the public in 1980, it has become a welcoming place to eat, pause, and learn about conscious, healthy living — now serving four generations of customers.
Its menu reflects the seasons and offers variety for everyone — from those following a macrobiotic, vegetarian, or vegan lifestyle, to anyone simply seeking nourishing, balanced meals. From cereals and legumes to wholesome desserts and fresh juices, everything is prepared with care and intention.

Unique features

What makes Suribachi unique is its warm, home-like atmosphere and personalised service. Meals are served buffet-style for flexible, mindful choices, with takeaway, delivery, and catering options also available.

A story or curiosity

Suribachi has long been a gathering place. In the 1980s, it became the regular dining spot for the cast of Um Cálice de Porto, a theatre piece celebrating FC Porto. Over the years, many local artists, visitors, and loyal customers have made it part of their lives — each one inspiring the team’s dedication.

Integration with the Local community

Deeply rooted in the community, Suribachi welcomes partnerships and has supported projects with the Porto City Council, the School of Hospitality, and APPACDM. It continues to offer a space of care, connection, and quiet nourishment in the rhythm of the city.
