Presentation

Casa dos Linhos is a shop dedicated to Portuguese craftsmanship, with a special focus on regional embroidery. Founded in 1860 under the name Santos & Pena, it began its activity on Rua Formosa and later moved to Rua Fernandes Tomás. Without direct heirs, the founders entrusted the business to Pedro Teixeira and Adelaide Campos, recognising their genuine passion for preserving this cultural heritage.

Unique features

In 2025, the company underwent a restructuring and came under the leadership of Estela Pinto and Pedro Teixeira. On March 22 of that year, Casa dos Linhos reopened at Rua do Bolhão 203 B, just a few metres from its previous location — allowing it to remain in downtown Porto while preserving its history and tradition.

A story or curiosity

More than just a historical reference in Porto’s traditional commerce, Casa dos Linhos has long maintained a close connection to the local community. It supports Portuguese artisans by sourcing embroidery, lace, and linen from local and regional craftspeople, especially from Lixa, Minho, the Azores, and Madeira.

Integration with the Local community

A living example of Porto’s traditional commerce, the shop functions almost like a working museum — offering visitors a chance to witness authentic techniques and handcrafted pieces. It stands as a true landmark for both locals and tourists alike.
