Adão Oculista has been a Varilux Specialist since 1972 and 100% Silhouette Specialists. It uses advanced technology such as AVA and Visioffice, and their assemblies are executed with Mr. Blue. Their illuminated outdoor sign, displayed since 1976, is an iconic symbol in the city, appearing in numerous photos, postcards, and films about Porto.
One of the many stories Adão Oculista collects is about the owner’s mother, a small woman in stature but giant in determination. She was crucial to the success of the business, breaking barriers, becoming a technical optician at a time when this was unprecedented for women. Her dedication and perfectionism attracted colleagues from afar to learn from her.
Adão Oculista believes in the dignity of their profession and serves all clients equally, regardless of their financial means. They participate in various community aid initiatives and maintain the spirit of service that has always identified the business.
